Christmas came early this year. I posted my review of Red Rising on Twitter and Pierce Brown's agent sent me Golden Son, the book II of the trilogy that will be published mid January.
Trilogies can be a big disappointment especially when the first book is exceptionally strong as it is hard to sustain the same quality over three books. Divergent illustrates my view. While I loved the first book, the second installment was far weaker and the third was just awful. Thankfully, Pierce Brown did a great job. Golden Son is as good as Red Rising.
I don't want to give a short introduction in case you have not read Red Rising. But, Golden Son mixes the same elements: adventure, politics, passion and violence. It makes for a great read! My problem though is that now I need to wait Christmas 2015 for the final chapter.
